Create Catenary

Ribbon: Catenary Design > Catenary > Catenary

You will need the function Create Catenary if you want to create a catenary manually or if you prepare the automatic positioning.

Once you create a new catenary, Sicat Master will add a span length delimited by two support points in the drawing area. For each support point, poles and anchors (even tunnel supports), a head span, messenger wires etc., will be created. Sicat Master calculates the stagger automatically, considering the given maximum stagger, but it is also possible to manually enter the stagger for each support point.

The approach for mounting a new catenary is shown with the help of an example in the following. The queries and dialog boxes are automatically viewed by Sicat Master. You can correct the entries with the button located in the toolbar before you confirm catenary.

Intention

Create a catenary of the type DB AG Re 200

Instructions
  1. Run the function catenary new. Sicat Master jumps into the according sublevel and interrogates on the solicited inputs.
  2. Select the track path which the catenary elements should be associated with (mouse click on the track path). This query does not appear if you have already selected a track path before calling the New Catenary function. If several track paths lie on top of each other (belong to the same rail axis) you can select the Rectangle Select function from the Graphics menu and drag the mouse over the desired track axis. The desired track path can be selected from the indicated list of the opening window.

  3. Select the starting point of the catenary (input of the position or mouse click in the drawing area - the coordinates are indicated in the dialogue box).
  4. Select the endpoint of the catenary (input of the position or mouse click in the drawing area - the coordinates are indicated in the dialog box). If the distance to the starting point is bigger than the maximum length span and the length span optimization is switched on, Sicat Master adopts the maximum length span.
  5. Select the design for the catenary from the list shown in the dialogue box below:
  6. If design is not included in the list, you have to create it in the master data first.
  7. Besides the choice of the type of catenary you can select two display options. You have the possibility to indicate the wind drift and the pantograph range in the drawing area.
  8. You can change these inputs with the function edit of the catenary at any time.
  9. Make necessary corrections, if required.
  10. Execute the New function in the submenu. Sicat Master adopts your inputs and creates the desired catenary.

Result

The desired catenary was created. You can see two supporting points which are connected by the catenary. Sicat Master returns to the function level catenary.
